Mr M was a delight to photograph at his family home in St. Louis this past weekend. He is SO calm and just perfection. Simply a beautiful baby boy! (yes….I do think boys are beautiful) Congrats S family! Your baby boy rounds out your family very nicely.
Family Heirloom

I adore family heirlooms. The history, the stories, the meaning of it all! I just can’t get enough. Today, I was going through my closet and pulled out this lil’ treasure while memories came flooding back to me. I made this christening gown for my daughter to wear when she was four months old. I spent a lot of time finding the perfect pattern, material and then sewing up the special garment for my lil’ baby girl. I added meaningful embellishments, like the heart pin that was my grandmother’s, the tiny gold buttons that I had used for my wedding and then topped it all off with a bonnet that my grandmother had made for my dad’s own christening when he was an infant. I am so glad that I took the time to make this gown for my daughter as I think it makes it that much more special and can be passed down to my daughter when she has children of her own. In the meantime, I will enjoy it every time I open my closet while envisioning how my lil’ Lily looked like a tiny porcelain doll wearing her gown, how proud Michael and I were to show her off and baptize her,and the memory of her Great Great Aunt holding her just before turning 100.

Mr. M entered this world a mere six weeks ago and has captured the hearts of his parents (and kitties). He is pretty laid back, but we did find that he doesn’t like to be messed with and doesn’t really like having his diaper off or being on his belly. I really can’t blame the lil’ man though. We all have our own comfort levels after all…. He has the most beautiful long eyelashes and the perfect round face. He is just so sweet and makes you want to cuddle him. Look out mom and dad, I think that he’ll get away with a lot with those eyes and pouty lips. Congratulations on the arrival of your lil’ boy. He is absolutely a dream!

I’m looking forward to Spring just around the corner and so, I thought I’d share a family portrait session from last April to warm our souls on a windy and snowy day that we have today in St. Louis. I just adored this customized portrait session from last year. We finally had some nice weather and pretty colors. I happened upon this field and knew that this would be the PERFECT location for this family’s portraits. It’s so dreamy with the yellow wildflowers, soft grass and the sun cascading it’s warmth over the hills in the background as it rose up that morning. It was a very windy day, which made the balloon set-up a bit of a challenge, but it all worked out fine. Clayton Infant Photographer | Seven Weeks!

This lil’ man was seven weeks when I captured him for his first portrait session. These images are a perfect example of the type of images you can capture with an infant who is a bit older than two weeks. Sure they may not be able to curl up like a brand new baby, but we are still able to capture those sleepy and wakeful moments that just melt one’s heart. His parents are so loving with each other and their new baby boy. It’s such a thing wonderful to witness and photograph. I think their love really shows through these images. I get a smile just looking at these. Hope they warm your heart as well!

What to Wear for Spring Portraits!

Spring is just around the corner and I know many of you are already thinking of what to wear for your upcoming Spring portrait sessions. Here’s one example of how to put together outfits for a family portrait session here in St. Louis. Notice how the colors coordinate, but aren’t too matchy matchy. The layers and textures give interest, while not distracting from the subjects. These colors would be lovely with the fresh grass and blooms that mother natures gives us in the next season. Have fun putting together your wardrobe and make sure each outfit reflects individual style and personality. Everyone should coordinate, but should let their true selves shine through!

I just adore this lil’ princess! I captured her newborn portraits almost six months ago and yesterday I had the honor to produce six month baby portraits of Miss I. She reminds me of a porcelain doll with her round face, blue eyes, perfect complexion and those thick locks of hair. I had this bed set-up in mind for a little girl and I knew it would be perfect for Miss I! So happy that I got to finally use everything finally. When I was discussing the vision for this lil’ one’s portrait session, her mom mentioned that she hadn’t found any clothes when she went shopping. I told her not to worry as I had things in Issy’s size that they could borrow. The bed, clothes and hair accessories were all things that I supplied. It worked out very well. Just another benefit of custom portraiture! Congrats lil’ lady on your upcoming six month birthday! So excited to see you grow…

Chesterfield Newborn Photographer | Eight Days Young!

This lil’ beauty was a mere eight days old when I had the honor to capture her for her newborn portrait session at her family home in Chesterfield, MO. She is such a joy and I know brings much delight to her parents. She’s pretty laid back and only fusses when she really needs something. I think her attitude comes from her parents who take things in stride and have such great patience. Congrats on the arrival of your baby girl.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit
crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
