I just love the glow that women get in pregnancy and when you add just the perfect lighting during those magical hours of the day, it’s just heavenly! This portrait session took place in August. We had a brutally hot summer and we delayed this session a little bit for the safety of baby and mommy, as the original scheduled portrait day was 114 degrees with the heat index. The morning of this session was perfect though. Cooler temps, beautiful early morning sun and comfy subjects produced some beautiful maternity portraits for this family! We were able to mix two different styles into this session outdoors as mom-to-be wanted beautiful images surrounded in nature and dad-to-be wanted more dramatic images of his beautiful wife. Luckily we were able to do both all at one location! I think it turned out beautifully. Enjoy!

This beautiful lady is expecting another lil’ boy in just a couple of months. I had the pleasure to capture her last pregnancy with a maternity portrait session and it was such an honor to do it again a year and a half later! We were hoping to get outside in the heart of St. Louis City, but it a bit too wet and cold for the three lil’ ones in the family, so we opted to hold their session in the comfort of their home in Caseyville, IL. It was a joy to capture this lovely lady tonight. We certainly lucked out with weather as it was a nice warm, calm evening even though rain and heavy winds were predicted just a couple days ago. Perfection. We were under the weeping willow tree when suddenly the sun broke through the clouds giving us beautiful back lighting. It was as if the universe was purposely lining things up perfectly just for this mom-to-be. I actually think things have been in her favor for the last 9 months, which is so deserving for this family. This morning, I captured a beautiful couple as they’re expecting their first baby! We were originally scheduled to do this session earlier in the summer, but we opted to hold off a bit since it was 115 degrees with heat index on that day. What a difference. Today was very comfortable with a nice breeze, which was quite refreshing. Much more comfy for mommy-to-be and safer health-wise as well. We got some stunning images of this expanding family! I’ve been photographing Kristen’s family since the birth of their first son, Xavier, so I was so happy and excited to capture her second pregnancy with a maternity portrait session! Kristen is beautiful inside and out and I think her portraits really show that fact. I recently met her second son, Myles, when he was three days old during his newborn photography session at their new home. It’s such an honor to capture these special moments.

There were severe thunderstorms moving in during this maternity photography session, but the sun came out for a brief moment. What a difference it makes in images! I just love yummy backlighting. Magical! THIS is why time of day is so important when holding a portrait session. Dreamy, buttery, beautiful lighting makes for beautiful images, which in turn just warms my soul!

This beautiful mommy’s maternity photography session was a couple months ago and now her precious baby girl is here! I got to meet this couple’s daughter, Gianna, while capturing her infant portraits on Saturday. Such a sweet lil’ lady with so much love coming her way. Her parents met while in college and the way they are together, you’d think they were still honeymooners. I just love that! Pregnancy is such a special time and documenting this time in a family’s life with a maternity photography session helps preserve the memory of the miracle that’s under way! We are so blessed with great locations around St. Louis for portraits – even when the weather isn’t quite cooperating with us. On the day of this family’s session, it was cold and bit wet, but thankfully we had this great option for us to utilize for portraits. Big brother got to run around and explore while I captured his beautiful mommy, daddy got to cuddle with his family and we were able to document the wonder of pregnancy in a unique and special way.
