This family’s portrait session, in Augusta, MO, was so much fun. The apple orchard made for a perfect backdrop for this family of six. Not only did the kiddos get to pick apples, but they found a frog to play with as well. Since their mommy is a photographer, I brought along some of my vintage cameras for everyone to play with. Super sweet. I wish I had film in those cameras, as I would love to see what they would have captured. So happy that I was able to get so many images of everyone smiling and looking at the camera. Not always the easiest thing to do with six people, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve for such a task. I love the interaction between everyone in this family. You can really tell that they enjoy their time together and truly love each other. Don’t you just love the outfits they chose for their session?Perfect for an early Fall photography session! Lucien was a mere six days old when I had the honor to capture him for his newborn portrait session. He was pretty laid back, which is great for mom and dad who are adjusting nicely to their new role as parents. They are blessed to have each other. A few months back, fellow photographer, Kristi Hollowell, contacted me about photographing her family. She said that she is used to urban settings for her family’s portraits, but she was up for something different this time around. Since it is September and nearing towards the end of apple season, I thought an apple orchard fit the bill for their customized portrait session. Since Kristi’s family consists of four kiddos, we wanted to stick a bit close to their home so that everyone was in the best of moods when they arrived. Centennial Farms was the perfect location! There were still some apples on the trees and the orchards are beautifully groomed by it’s owners. If you haven’t been to Centennial Farms, you should check them out. You can pick your own apples, buy some honey & preserves that are produced right there on the premises, pick out the perfect pumpkin for the upcoming holidays and enjoy a nice scenic ride out to the farm. Shelby’s maternity portrait session took place on a beautiful morning last month just 10 days before she gave birth to her adorable baby boy. This beautiful mom-to-be had told me that she loved outdoor portraits, but her husband really likes those dramatic images, so we did a bit of both. I think it worked out beautifully. I first met Caleb when he was a mere three months old. I can’t believe he’s already turning one years old. He has changed so much in the last few months. I love his laugh and how this family interacts together. Lots of tickling and laughter. Caleb is very lucky to have such fun-loving parents who obviously adore him. Happy birthday lil’ man! It was dark and raining when I woke up this morning, but baby Lucien totally brightened the day. The first time I captured this lil’ man was when he was still in him mommy’s belly for their maternity photography session. We weren’t able to go outside for any portraits this morning due to the weather, but we got some amazing images of him inside. I picked up some apples on the way to their home for the first shot below. I just thought it was fitting for a September baby. I also chose colors that complimented Autumn’s beauty, so even though we weren’t outdoors at all, we still got a taste of the season of Lucien’s birth. At six days old, he is a great sleeper, curls up naturally as if still in the womb, and has a huge appetite. His parents are so lucky to have this lil’ man in their lives. Enjoy the sneak peek!

This family was a delight to capture during their first family portrait photography session. We lucked out with weather and even though baby Isaiah was a bit sleepy, he was full of joy and happiness. You can tell how much this family loves each other through their images. Pay close attention of the images of father and son laughing together. They have the SAME smile! When I pulled up those images on my computer while editing, I was just amazed at how these two really look alike! LOVE that. I also adore how this lil’ man closes his eyes when he laughs. Just too cute. Enjoy the music video.

Jakob is a super playful two year old boy who makes everyone smile around him. He gave me quite the workout during his customized portrait session – lots of running, playing, teasing and tickling. His mom brought him to the park in his little red wagon, which he was super attached to, but he did decide to give the red flyer bike a spin after seeing me scooting around on it (yes, I’m sure that me on that little bike was a delightful sight for those around!) All-in-all it was a perfect day for portraits of a perfect lil’ boy!
